Stunning piece of roasted curly maple that has been vacuum stabilized, featuring an African blackwood lip plate. Key of B, tonic E.
NOTE: This is the largest bansuri that I make, and for those who are familiar with this tuning you will know that these require quite a reach. Not recommended for beginners or players with smaller hands. If you have any doubts about the reach, contact me to discuss before purchase.

Cherry Quena, Key of G. New design! These quena are the result of many experiments over the years that have resulted in an instrument with superior tuning balance. Well balanced quena are nearly impossible to find, and I don’t believe you will find any quena that can match the intonation of this design.

Ashley Jarmack demonstrates quena in G!
Cherry Quenacho, Key of D w/ergonomic finger hole layout for comfort (right hand on lower holes). For players with smaller hands or limited reach, these might be a bit much. You can effectively play with piper’s grip, which helps a lot.
The quenacho is a six hole flute (there is a small thumb hole that acts as a register hole, but it does not play a note) tuned to the diatonic major scale, just like the quena.

Salvaged Old Growth Redwood, Key of F# (pentatonic major scale). This is the same flute as the Basketmaker, only without a thumb hole (which is very tricky on a flute this big). This is the flute that Scott August plays in his amazing piece “Quiet Journey” which you can see below.
PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE ORDERING. This flute is not covered by my normal return policy. This is a very large flute and at least half of the players who try it cannot reach the finger holes comfortably. I will provide you detailed information to help you determine if you can play it, but once it is determined that you can reach the flute I will only consider a return on a case-by-case basis. I’m sorry to be so strict about this, but this has been a problem in the past and has obliged me to alter my policy. I get a lot of requests for this flute, but be forewarned that it is a stretch, even for tall players.

Sorry! The only sound sample at this time is in the key of A and not Aflat. So you can hear the Basketmaker that is a half-step higher in pitch than this flute.

Glorious green ebonite shakuhachi! 1.8, Key of D. Weight: 450grams (16 oz.). For players unfamiliar with ebonite, I strongly encourage you to read my blog entry on the subject. It is a truly amazing material for woodwinds of all kinds, and it is all-natural (not plastic or synthetic). Waterproof, stable and demonstrating superior acoustic properties.
Making ebonite is as much art as science, and colored ebonite is very expensive (but worth it!), and the finishing process is much more labor intensive than wood. The extra cost for materials and labor is reflected in the price of these flutes.

Gorgeous Curly Douglas Fir Shakuhachi, 1.8 Key of D. It is highly unusual for me to find Curly Douglas Fir in dimensions that will allow me to make a shakuhachi. It is a rare wood to begin with (not commercially available) and even more so for something like this.
